Libertatii Square

Historical names: The Parade Square (Parade Platz), Libertăţii Square (Freiheitsplatz), Prince Eugen Square (Jenö herceg tér).

Dating: Libertăţii Square is undoubtedly the oldest of the Timişoara squares. Libertăţii Square’s location is also the site of the original nucleus from which Timişoara’s evolution started, the first place where people settled and lived continuously in the hearth of today’s city.

Timișoara - Green Areas

The parks and green areas along Bega canal and all over the city give a special charm to the area. This is the reason why Timişoara is also called „the city of parks and roses”.

The Botanical Park is Timişoara’s largest park and includes a great variety of arboreal and protected flowers species. It was arranged together with the Cadet Military School.

Museum of Romanian Press - Jimbolia

The Museum of romanian Press from Jimbolia was declared open on 14 september 2007, the first institution of this kind in Romania, one of the few even in Europe (in Aachen, Germany, and in Portugal). The museum received the name of Sever Bocu, first class citizen of Banat, born in Șiştarovăţ, who published the newspaper “România Mare” in Kiev, in 1917, for the romanian war prisoners in concentration camps.

Wooden Churches

In the area of the upper basin of Bega river, the area still forested on extended surfaces, a rich architecture in wood had developed, represented both by traditional houses and country schools, administrative buildings or commercial constructions, but the most important still kept today are the worship places.
The studied area proves to be one of the most conservative areas of Banat with regard to religious architecture monuments, most of the wood churches being still kept today, which gives the specific of the area and at the same time represents a high touristic potential.

Jupânești - Potters Home

Sixty years ago, each household from Jupâneşti a village administered by Făget - had one or two potters. The village of Jupâneşti, located in Vădanei Valley, was a famous pottery centre, given the local supply of quartz sand and adequate clay. Nowadays, the village, regarded as the last active pottery center in Timiş county, is harbouring only two elders, experts in the art of pottery: Trandafir Velcu and Gheorghe Mestecănean. The tradition may get the chance to be continued thanks to the potter Marin Barbos, who manages the pottery center for children from Jupâneşti, Tomeşti and Coşeviţa.

The Castle of Lost Wonders

The most famous noble family from the north-west of the Timiş-Torontal county in the XVIIth-XIXth centuries was the one of the Counts Nacu, Aromanians coming from Greece and settled in Banat. The Nacu brothers, Hristu and Chiril, converted to the catholic religion and they Magyarised their names, turning them into Nakó Kristóf and Cziril. They bought the land from Sânni colau at an auction in 1781. in 1864, the Count Kálmán Nakó began the building of the castle, in neoclassical style, located in the middle of a park with rare essence trees.

Buzias - Park, Forrest and Spa

Buzias is known since Roman times as the Ahibis. Is documentary attested since centuries XIV - XV.
Declared spa town since 1819, the city itself is held on the upper terrace of Timis, the contact between the Eastern Plains and hills Banat Banat - Silagiu Hill in the south-east of the county.
Home resort in Timis county, because of its contained water appears in major encyclopedias of the world, that of Italian scientists and CG Messina M. Lollo "Aque Mineral del mondo" or "Precis d'hydrologie" the French scientist A. Moretti has become nationally and abroad.

Timisoara Banatian Living Village Museum

The Banatian Living Village Museum concept, proposed for implementation via HURO / 1101 / 164/ 2.1.3 project, consists of the reiteration of the Banat village living conditions of the early 19th century by building a replica of 4 traditional farms authentic households, by ethnicity: Romanian, Hungarian,  Schwabian and one Serbian. The households will be permanently inhabited and maintained by families carefully selected based on defined criteria that will perform specific activities to the area of the housing.
