Theresia Bastion and Cross-Border Multifunctional Center

The Bastion, Theresia Bastion, was originally designed as a “ravelin” (a fortification item built outside the first entrenchment of the fortress, approximately in the middle of the curtain between the two bastions, to “flank” with “flanking fire” those bastions.

It appears on plans since 1732. On the 1734 plan it appears as completely finished. Subsequently it was included in the first fortification ring as a bastion, called the Theresia Bastion.

Bega Canal

Poiana Ruscă Mountains

Poiana Rusca

The agro-touristic area of the Poiana Rusca mountain piedmont is located on the east side of Timis county, at the border with Hunedoara and Caras Severin Counties. The localities belonging to this area are:

Timisoara Zoological Garden

Timisoara Zoo is located in the Green Forest, stretching on 6 hectares. The property of the Zoo belongs to Timisoara’s City Hall.

In 2007 the Zoo was modernized and numerous improvements were made to ensure proper conditions for the wild animals in captivity. In the Zoo were created 16 habitats, in which 144 animals live, belonging to 29 animal species. The visitors could see animals from all continents, such as hussar monkeys, ostriches, guanacos, maras, reindeers, bears, emu birds, red necked wallabies, small hens, raccoons and waterfowls: swans and various species of ducks.

The Românești Cave

Among the existing caves from the upper basin of Bega River, the Romanesti Cave is the largest and most interesting. It is located on south-east from Romanesti village (Tomesti commune, Timis county), on the left bank, well forested, of Pustinia valley, at 2.2 km upstream of the confluence of this creek with Bega Poieni. More precisely, it is broken in the north bank of Filip Hill, referred to as Dosu Pesterii, at 370 m altitude.

Timisoara Art Museum

The Museum is hosted by the Baroque Palace, one of Timişoara’s key buildings, built in Baroque style in the second half of the eighteenth century in the city’s Main Square (now Unirii Square). The exterior decorative motifs betray a close Viennese lineage, being remarkable similar to Kinsky Palace.

The building, being in an important restoration process, was restored to the public in 2006, once with the establishment of the Timişoara Art Museum.
