The Timisoara Airport will prepare another European project, finances by the program POS – T (Operational sectorial program for transport) for 2015-2030 period, in order to build the necessary infrastructure for the Intermodal Terminal. This objective is part of the General Transport Masterplan and was included in the list of national priorities regarding investments.

This means that the General Transport Masterplan of Romania representing the national strategy of the Ministry of Transport for 2015-2030, comprises two major objectives on national and European level. The total value of implementing these objectives is 82,2 milion euro, nonrefundable. It consists of a Intermodal cargo terminal and a Intermodal Passengers Terminal. These objectives were included in the Master Plan at chapter 7 – Aerial transport.

The Cargo terminal will include the Cargo center, the stationing platform for planes, railway terminal, rehabilitation of existent railway inside the airport and connecting it to the national network, parking spaces for cars and transport connexions.

A first step in development of the cargo line in the airport was made after the European Comission approved the above-mentioned project „Cargo Tim - Study for development of infrastructure for Intermodal cargo transport on the Timisoara International Airport” for financing from the European program TEN-T.

The passengers terminal will be built in stages and will include an air station of great dimensions with commercial and operational facilities. Also, a bus station will be built connected with the air station by a commercial gallery, in order to provide public transport and represent an important interchange which will facilitate transport of passengers to regional and international destinations.
